The Missoula Children’s Theater in
“Johnny Appleseed”
Thirty-seven youth actors from the Minot area presented “Johnny Appleseed” on Friday, June 11th and Saturday, June 12th to overflowing crowds.
Mouse River Players sponsored the team from Missoula Children’s Theater to cast and direct youth from 5 to 13 years in a show based on the legend of Johnny Appleseed. Actors auditioned on Monday morning and performed the show on Friday and Saturday. Maddin Slind (6) said, “I like being an apple seed because of the Appleseed Song.”
In addition to learning lines, singing songs with new lyrics plus dance moves, our youth could take advantage of the three classes after rehearsals on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They taught acting, background and improv performance. The Missoula team brought the costumes, background set, and props so each day the actors learned new skills.
Abby Speer, who played Tim Wolf, said, “I liked the story line of this show the best of all the shows I have done with Missoula. It was more fun…the young actors like petting her (T. Wolf) when she was in costume.”
Joslin Slind said, “I enjoyed doing the show because everyone got along, and my costume was easy because it was pajamas.” Fun was had by all who participated. Many thanks to our sponsors who helped fund this opportunity for us.
